R.I.P. Krowsten

We're allowed to write about whatever we want. So I've decided to write about my crazy friend Kristen.

I met Kristen through Becka about two years ago, back when she was kind of normal. Well, normal in our terms. I mean, I'm sure the kids in this class would call her weird. I'm pretty sure they think Becka and I are weird. Oh well. Anyway, Kristen was a big nerd, she liked to read and watch anime and stuff, okay. She had normal hair, plain dark brown, to her shoulders, with bangs. But after tenth grade, she dropped out of school and started doing all her classes through Florida Virtual School. Anyone who starts spending all her time at home is bound to start getting a little weird. After a while, though, Kristen started to get sick. Her body was so accustomed to her home environment that if she tried to leave, she'd get really ill and have to go back home. So we stopped seeing her.
Meanwhile, she dropped out of Virtual School. So now she wasn't in school at all, and she had all this free time. She started chopping her hair off to be boyish, and to go through obsession phases. It started with anime. She would spend long, ridiculous hours watching animes--FULL ANIMES, not episodes here and there, FULL ANIMES--on her computer. She grew obsessed with Gundam Seed, and began to collect and build Gundam models.

(Gundams are giant robots shaped like people that humans could sit in the brains of and control. They would, theoretically, be used to fight.) For a while, she put her energy into building models of all kinds of things.
Of course, that obsession burned out after a while. Her next obsession was vocaloid
which is a voice synthesizing program developed in Japan. They use the vocaloid models to sing songs and post videos with computer voices instead of human ones.
After vocaloid, her next obsession was steampunk.
Steampunk is an updated Victorian style which also utilizes old technology, using gears and cranks and stuff to make odd and interesting jewelry. A trademark of steampunk is goggles and cool boots.
Her current obsession is old pagan culture.
She listens to a lot of folk metal such as Blackmore's Night, Kamelot, Within Temptation, Eluvietie, among others. I've sampled many of these bands and they sound like what you'd hear at a great feast after a battle against the Vikings or something. Her Myspace profile is currently decked out in forest themes, with the goddess symbol (the moon phases) at the bottom, and homage to the Celtic forest god Cernunnos. She also lists the calendar year in terms of the pagan calendar. In addition to being obsessed with pagan culture, she's also obsessed with politics. Even though she's dropped out of high school altogether and will not have a diploma, something that everyone SHOULD HAVE, she considers herself mature, which is laughable.
With every phase, her hair has changed colors and crazyness. Back in her crazy anime-Japanese culture-technocolor rave phase, she had bright-colored, choppy short hair, and during her Egypt-mythology and Steampunk phase she bleached her hair a traditional blond. She now sports a medium blonde tone and normally curls it, to imitate ladies back in Celtic times. Kristen is someone who pays great attention to detail, and her outfits also always reflected what phase she was in. She currently dresses in very earthen tones and wears a pentacle around her neck, like she thinks she's Wiccan or something.
We tried to keep being friends with Kristen through all her crazyness, but now she obviously doesn't want to be friends with us anymore. And she's just too crazy!!! She's not the cool, fun Kristen we used to know... T-T

R.I.P. Krowsten. You'll be missed.

HAHA She thinks she's Wiccan! Next time we see her, she'll be trekking through the woods to visit wiccan ritual sites deep in the forest with a big group of fellow worshipers. She'll bring mandrake roots and milkthistle seeds and they'll make weird (and most likely poisonous) potions. Then, she'll dress steam punk and ride around on a motorcycle pulled by horses. I wonder if Ben is still somewhat normal...
